Plantation Florida received its name from the Everglades Plantation Company and is a city positioned to the west of Fort Lauderdale. When comparing this city to its neighbor that lies to the east, Plantation has only a few attractions for tourists or visitors. However, it does feature a diverse range of parks along with opportunities for cultural and recreation education that makes it worthwhile destination to consider for day trips.

This museum features a collection of permanent artifacts that showcase the history of the area. Some of these artifacts include artwork items derived from the local fire and police departments, Tequesta Indian artifacts along with other items on display. Public Golf Courses
The Plantation Preserve Golf Course And Club offers golf fanatics challenging experiences with 18 holes features over 7,148 yards. This course also serves as a park to preserved wetlands and various nature trails. The Jacaranda Golf Club has 2 18 hole course on the West course and the East course. The West course challenges golfers with the unusual spacing between greens and hazards that makes the players use strategy instead of power. The East course is focused mainly on shorter game play.
Founded in 2000, the Schacknow Museum Of Fine Arts, is aimed at assisting unknown artists to showcase their personal work. The collection offers over 2,500 drawings, sculptures and paintings along with other types of artistic media. The exhibits also feature work from national and local artists, prison inmates and mentally-disabled adults. This museum also hosts a number of social events for both visitors and residents.
Plantations features over 30 playgrounds, public parks and other types of facilities associated with outdoor recreation. Many of these parks are undeveloped or passive, but the bigger parks cater to visitors as well as the locals. For example the Aquatics Complex features 2 Olympic-size pools as well as a safe water playground for younger children. Other outdoor attractions include the Liberty Tree Park that involves 9 acres of beautiful scenery and land with a water fountain, gazebo, multi-use trails and spacious picnic areas. Deicke Park is also a popular spot and features facilities for tennis, basketball and volleyball, jogging trails and picnic areas.
